The variation in the beliefs, opinions, and moral views of Antigone and Creon were constantly disputed through out the play. Is it fair that one brother receives a proper burial and the other one does not? The song also has a religious andmoral significance. Both have logical arguments, but neither dominates the other. After all, how could the ruler of a kingdom honor a man who attempted to invade and conquer what is now his kingdom. Antigone and Creon, from "Antigone" by Sophocles, encounter a philosophical war based on their moral views. However, Eteocles was at fault for breaking Oedipus wish that the brothers share the throne by having one rule for one year and the other rule the next year. Antigones strong beliefs are what ultimately led her to death by Creon. One of her brothers, Eteocles, receives a lavish funeral, with customary rites to win him honor with the dead below, (29-30) while the other brother, Polyneices, is left unburied and left as food for the birds. The general population actually supported Antigone, but though they were too scared to stand against Creon. Each of them aimed at the Theban throne, but each was slain bythe other.
